My friend Kelly Nederlof asked, for her graduation project, seven generation Y members (born between 1980 and 1991) to collect what must not be lost. She investigated how this digitally oriented group of young people are dealing with tangible memories and collecting as a form of practical memory. The shots are beautiful and serves a perfect documentation of a contemporary generation. *I was one of the participants.

During my intership at Studio Aandacht I worked on this production for Volkskrant Woonspecial (a livingspecial attached to the newspaper). It was called Touch Me, and we made 4 spreads. On the first image you see the cover of the magazine. The second image is one of the moodboards I made for preparation. On the last image you see one of the end result. For the whole production you can check my website.

A (still working on) new project: A Stiller Life. As a stylist and environmental photographer I am looking for abandoned places. Something has done with these places in the past, it has been abandoned and exudes a poetic atmosphere. It’s hard and cold and there is a lot of grief.
There is a fear of leaving, implying it has become grow together with nature the grief and loss process. The desolate atmosphere gives a sense of calm, but the dark story dominated these feelings.

Today I went with my sister to Lovenjoel, Belgium for a visit at Salve Mater, a psychiatric hospital for females, for an assignment. The psychiatric hospital was a centre for female patients and was owned by the university to educate student psychiatrists. Built in 1926. Partly Abandoned in 1997.
The (school) assignment I am making is for Bloom Magazine (from Lidewij Edelkoort). A forecasting with a photoshoot. Soon at my website.

I love this concept of The Burning House: “If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It’s a conflict between what’s practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question.”

My top 3 this month:
#1 APARTAMENTO MAGAZINE
#2 RUM MAGAZINE
#3 GLAMCULT
Apartamento is so real and shows the most original homes, living spaces and design solutions. I made an ode to Apartamento Magazine by a photoshoot. Rum Magazine is a danish interior and architecture magazine with the an incredible sense of taste. Glamcult showes the love for design, fashion, graphic design and photography.

Vincent Fournier has spent the past decade and a half gaining access to some of the most controlled environments on earth – including government stations and training grounds – in an effort to expose the visual gems which can be found in these unforgiving landscapes. Capturing landscapes that could easily be from another planet, as well as scientific machinery and obvious space equipment, the Vincent Fournier ‘Space Project’ series depicts a mission of sorts. AMAZING!

This is the result of ‘Furniturised’, were the model model takes over the character of the furniture. Colour, shapes, structure, materials. In total I have made 8 portraits.
This project I made with Floor Kuitert and Kelly Nederlof. Pour me. We made 4 conserving submissions and 2 conserving necklaces. Inside the necklace is a baby tooth, a memory, a precious treasure. We wanted to carry those memory’s close, we wanted to keep them, to conserve them.
I am fascinated by infestation. Growing. Mold and damp patches are the ultimate shape of beauty. The art work and pictures wich are shown beneath are all based on concrescence and infestation. Martin Scott-Jupp for example made close-ups of the various types of mould which can be found growing on your average loaf of bread, given enough time and neglect. They’re from a series called Colony featuring the beauty and wonder you can find in decaying matter and growing fungi. If you weren’t told that these were molds you probably wouldn’t have ever known, thinking they were some kind of tiny flowers or a set of miniatures shot in a sort of tilt shift way. It’s so fascinating that something so gross could be so beautiful!

This is what we are gonna see in a few. Romans, sticky romans. Soft pastels -like coral, red, ochre yellow, blur blue- and light plays an important part. These set-designs inspire me tremendously.
This is where I am working on right now, a photo serie of 8 portraits. Het model takes over the character of the furniture. The model takes over the colour, shapes, structure, materials from the furniture. I am very busy with the other 7 portraits, i’ll show it soon!

I love the work of Paul Octavious. He is a photographer placed in Chicago. Landscape comprises the visible features of an area of land, including the physical elements of landforms, water bodies such as rivers, lakes and the sea, living elements of land cover including indigenous vegetation, human elements including land uses, buildings and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.
